Thirteen Things I have gone and done these past few Weeks



1…. Joined

Urbis is a creative community with three types of users: creative people,
those who love and support creative people, and those who have opportunities for creative people. It's very creative.

2…. Joined

Sad but true... Go on have a goggle!

3…. Finally gotten back round to writing my book - Well at least a few paragraphs...

4…. Made an interesting acquaintance on MySpace...

5…. Sorted out my tea cupboard, made an Excel Spreadsheet listing all my teas and where they are on the shelf and stuck it to the front of the cupboard...
Even sadder than joining MySpace, I know...

6…. Laid in bed all day with just about the worst headache in quite a while



7…. Run from one doctors appointment to the next... I hate it!!!

8…. Found out that the medication they have me on is in fact a not so distant cousin of heroin!!!



9…. Took down one Christmas tree and put up another...Well, it made the kids happy!!!! (Thats my story and I am sticking to it!)

10…. Made up some Playlists on

11….Watched a bunch of "Law and Order - SVU" episodes and although almost every single one makes me scared for me and my kids and the world it is almost addictive...

12….Talked to the long lost Relatives in the US several times. It is interesting seeing the kids interaction with them. No word from their "father" though...

13….Helped Simon write his essay about "The Allgäu" for his German course, well he wrote and I corrected, a bit... :-)

13... parte labing-apat (#14)

In case you are wondering, yes, it is one of my cats sleeping under the tree!

And also, I know my tree is not the prettiest one going but there is a reason to it:

Every year we (in the general sense) go out, looking for the perfect tree. It has to be just right, even, not too thin but not too full, straight and with no holes. It has to be just like we have seen it in pictures...
Why? Why can't our trees be just as faulty as every single one of us?
God does not ask us to be perfect...
He accepts us just the way we are. And just think of all the Christmas trees, we have quickly discarded when searching. Maybe one of them, even with a missing branch here or a bit of a lopsidedness there would have made just the tree our heart was looking for?
Why does everything always have to be perfect...?

We now make it a point to get a tree, that has a fault and make it look the most beautiful tree by pouring our hearts into decorating it.

Thirteen Things about my Dad!

1…. He was born in 1940 in New Orleans, Louisiana

2…. He wrote his High Schools (Destrehan High) Alma Mater and the Fight Song. They still sing it today at every school function and game.

3…. He is responsible for my taste in music! :-) (Well, the majority anyways...)

4…. He is the "go to" person for anything Jazz, Blues and Classic related.

5…. He was a lab tech in the Army

6…. He can sing, play the piano and the drums.

7…. He has read sooo many books, they are piled up next to the book shelves.

8…. He used to sing me to sleep when I was little and it was always either "Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ra" or " Daddy's little Girl". I now sing those songs to my children.

9…. Sometimes he used to tell me a story instead and it was "Goldilocks", "Jack and the Beanstalk" or "The three little pigs".

10…. We both read the last Harry Potter Book (The Half Blood Prince) at the same time to see who finished first. He was one hour and 14 minutes quicker than I with a total of 18 hours and 29 minutes!

11…. He used to be a Square Dance Caller, one of the first in Germany. From 1959 to 1968 and then from 1990 until 2004.

12…. His favorite actress is Audrey Hepburn. He really loves her in "My fair Lady" and "Sharade".

13…. I reunited him with his mother in 2001 (after 32 years) and he talks to her almost every day now.
